Start Your Experience In Columbus, Georgia

If you’re ready for a fun filled day, the following experiences certainly fit the bill.

1. WhiteWater Express

Calling all thrill seekers! It’s time to grab some buddies and get your adrenaline pumping as you make your way over rushing rapids.

Located on the Chattahoochee River, the RushSouth Whitewater Park is the longest urban whitewater rafting in the world! If it’s your first time, don’t worry, the certified instructors are prepared to assist all skill levels.

And, if you’d rather try your hand at another watersport, WhiteWater Express also offers stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, fly fishing and so much more. There’s something for everyone who visits – a guaranteed adventure awaits.

2. Splashpad

Located directly across from WhiteWater Express, you’ll find a wonderful seasonal splash pad for the little ones.

With views of WhiteWater Express’ rafters, it makes for a great place for a picnic, as you can sit back, relax and watch as other thrill seekers take on an adventure so you don’t have to!

3. Coca-Cola Space Science Center

A division of the Columbus State University (CSU), the Coca-Cola Space Science Center (CCSSC) offers academic enrichment for the university and informal education to the public.

Established in 1996, CCSSC is actually Georgia’s only museum and science center dedicated to providing experiences in astronomy and space science.

You can look forward to exploring exhibits that feature Apollo memorabilia, trying your piloting skills with interactive exhibits, or hopping aboard the Space Shuttle Odyssey for a flight to ISS, to name a few!

4. The Springer Opera House

While they originally opened their doors back in 1871, they still remain open to this day! Plan a trip to the historic theater and watch performances, from plays, musicals and Broadway-style productions all year long.

5. Columbus Botanical Garden

Spanning 36 acres of green space, the Columbus Botanical Garden is the perfect place to marvel at some magnificent wildlife. With a range of educational, outdoor recreation and enrichment opportunities, there’s something for everyone in the family.

With so much beauty to admire, you’ll want to bring your camera to capture the moment!

6. Sculpture Walk

In 2012, Uptown Columbus opened its iconic Sculpture Walk, and you can still enjoy the public art today! As new pieces are added yearly, you can imagine how much the collection has grown.

Featuring sculptures and artwork, if you download the free OtoCast app, you can embark on a narrated self-guided tour of the wonderful creations.

7. Columbus RiverWalk GeoTour

Have you ever been geocaching? If not, now’s your time!

It’s the perfect way to explore the RiverWalk, while adding a little extra adventure into the mix. Head out and search for hidden caches, just as you would on a treasure hunt, using clues picked up from the Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The categories include the dams, the walk, the mills, the attractions, the river and the whitewater, and you’ll discover 5-6 caches for each category.

Start your search sooner rather than later to find all the hidden treasures as soon as possible!
