As a member of one of the nation’s top athletic conferences (SEC), The University hosts major sporting events year-round. Downtown Auburn is lively with thriving retail that includes unique shops, fine and casual dining, quaint coffee shops, bookstores, banks, and nightlife. Walk to Toomer’s Corner, an Auburn tradition since the late 1800s, is the focal point of downtown. Toomer’s Corner is known as the gateway from the Auburn community to Auburn University. The Tiger Trail of downtown honors the greatest athletes, coaches and administrators from Auburn University. Each inductee is presented with a granite plaque placed in the sidewalk of downtown.
